UPDATE: We are sorry to inform you that the SMC Promise Chromebook Project has ended. Please note that having a confirmation email does not guarantee you will receive a Chromebook. Approved requests are on a first-come, first-served basis.

*Reminder: If you qualify and receive a SMC Promise Chromebook; it is your responsibility to repair, update, or maintain the device. SMC is not liable for any damaged, lost or Chromebooks in need of repair.

If you are in need of a Chromebook loaner, please have a staff or faculty member send a request on your behalf through the GPS system at www.smc.edu/gps.

Can any student get a free computer?

Can I get a computer without the contract?

Where can I pick up the computer?

You can pick up your computer at the Welcome Center which is located on the 1st floor of the Student Services Center.

Please bring your confirmation or student ID number along with your current student or government-issued ID to the Welcome Center.

Pick-up Hours:

Monday: 10:30-4:30pm

Tuesday-Thursday: 8:30am-4:30pm

Friday: 8:30am-12:30pm

How do I connect my Chromebook to the internet on campus?

Connect to the SMC_WIFI network using your SMC username and password
Configure these additional settings:
- ESSENTIAL SETTINGS:
  - EAP Method = PEAP
  - Certificate= Do Not Check
  - Identity= SMC\lastname_firstname
Sign in with your SMC student Google account login (aka SMC username and password)
Update Chromebook using the UP ARROW in the bottom right corner of the home screen.
