Programs to Help You Succeed
Adelante Program
The Adelante Program is a support program created by the Latino Center in 1989. It provides counseling and academic advisement to help students strengthen their skills, acquire the information, and develop the support system to confidently and successfully navigate college.
Financial Aid & Scholarships
SMC offers a variety of scholarships and financial aid to help you attain your educational
goals.
The California Dream Act allows undocumented and documented students who meet certain
provisions apply for and receive private scholarships through public universities,
state administered financial aid, university grants, and community college fee waivers.
Drive Thru Food Pantry
The Santa Monica College Foundation Meal Project provides groceries and meals to students
at risk of hunger and food insecurity.
Every Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. there is a drive-thru food pantry serving
students.
“Adelante provided me access to critical information that led to my academic success.”

What Students Are Saying
Keily Molina
Transfer To
Being a firstgen student, I was told that attending a 4-year university would be a
great honor for my family. They did not know the struggles I was facing, and I can
honestly say that attending SMC has been one of the BEST decision of my life.
I got into all the schools I applied to and I couldn’t be happier with what the outcome
was. The clubs & program I participated in shaped me into the person I am now.
Jose F. Herrera
Transfer To
I came to SMC in 1997 when I was 34 years old and determined to follow my academic
dreams, which I had to put aside once I became a father. Ten years after, I returned
to finish what I had started.
I’m so appreciative of SMC for accommodating classes and staff to support and help
find answers. My deep appreciation for the Adelante Latino Center Program staff in
helping and supporting me.

Transfer To
University of California Berkeley
I came to SMC fresh out of the US Army after doing three-and-a-half years as a grunt.
I chose SMC because of its reputation and the challenge that it would provide me for
personal growth.
SMC helped me get to the place that I am today by giving me a support system that
I lacked at the time. My fellow student ambassadors working behind the desk at the
Welcome Center made it all fun.
