There is no audition to declare a Dance major. At the start of the fall semester the department holds placement classes to determine enrollment in the appropriate level of technique. Dance majors are expected to enter with and maintain adequate technical proficiency to progress through the curriculum, and must maintain at least a C average for classes to count towards the Dance major.

Students must present three minutes of their work to be developed along with a description of origin and authenticity.
Global Motion Student Dancer Audition:
Friday, August 30, 2024 at 3:00PM. Sign-in at 2:00PM (Location: CPC 310)
All dancers auditioning must be warmed up and wear black on black dancewear.
Global Motion Audition Form will be available during registration.

The Dance Department has two pre-professional companies: Synapse Contemporary Dance Theater and Global Motion World Dance Company. At the beginning of each semester, dancers who are interested in being considered for the ensemble, or who are interested in auditioning work as a choreographer, must attend the audition.
