The Santa Monica College (SMC) Malibu Campus remains closed Friday, March 14 – Sunday, March 16, 2025 and will reopen on Monday, March 17. Current weather conditions and evacuation orders continue to make access difficult. Students and faculty who have classes at the Malibu Campus will be notified and alternate arrangements made wherever possible. Spring Semester Reopening Schedule

The Malibu Campus resumed on-ground classes for the Spring Semester on February 18, 2025.

PCH has reopened for now to Residents, Contractors, and Essential Workers (with official passes) with a 25 mph speed limit and 1 lane each way through the areas affected by the fires.

The LA the Metro 134 bus line that gives access from Santa Monica to the SMC Malibu campus will restore service with limited stops on Friday, February 28, 2025.

Pick up locations in Santa Monica include: 5^th St and Colorado and Ocean Ave & Colorado

Drop off in Malibu at Civic Ctr/ Malibu Library stop.

Route to SMC Malibu Campus

Alternate Route to SMC Malibu Campus From the Santa Monica Area

While the PCH is closed, the best alternate route to the Malibu campus from the Santa Monica area is to take the 405 North to the 101 West and take Las Virgenes Road or Kanan Road South to Malibu. Once in Malibu, take the PCH East to Webb Way. Turn left on Webb Way and then right on Civic Center Way. The Malibu Campus will be on the North side of Civic Center Way, across from Legacy Park and next to the Malibu LIbrary.
