When you fill out the scholarship application, you are then matched to a scholarship
based on the information you have provided from your application and other requested
information; you are considered for all the scholarships for which you are qualified.

Scholarship awards range anywhere from $250 to $2,000.

or financial challenges and/or personal hardship(s) that impact your educational goals.
For continuing students, your personal statement should also reflect your participation
in SMC clubs, activities, and other leadership experiences.

In most cases, no. However, there are some scholarships that do require letters so
be sure to check the ones you're hoping to be considered for and proceed accordingly.
Yes. SMC Foundation works to provide as many equitable opportunities for our students
as possible. There are instances where a student may receive more than one (1) scholarship
in an academic year.
All scholarship awardees are required to follow the verification process. Once you've
completed this process, you will be notified of your award being ready for pick-up.
Yes. If you do not submit the required materials to claim your award(s) by December 31, the scholarship
reverts back to the Foundation.
Some scholarships require supplemental materials (see scholarship catalog). Supplemental
information can include electronic images of artwork, graphic art designs, photographs,
and employment verification letters. If you are submitting any requested supplemental
documents, please attach them to the Supplemental Document Submission section of the application.
The SMC Financial Aid & Scholarship Office is located on the main SMC Campus, Student
Service Center (SSC) on the 1st floor
The SMC Foundation office is located at 1516 Pico Blvd, just west of the main campus.
The entrance to the office is on the second floor.
Scholarship recipients will be notified via email by the Financial Aid & Scholarship
Office in May.
No. The Foundation will notify you when your award is ready to be picked up.
