This course covers the history of world theatre and dramatic literature with emphasis on the relationship of the theatre to cultural development.
TH ARTS 7, Modern Drama • 3 units

This course consists of some of the great works of 20th-century drama. Theatre Arts 7 is the same course as English 55. Students may earn credit for one, but not both.

Specific training is given in the performance of the regional American and foreign dialects most often used in the theatre.

This course provides advanced training in awareness and development of the body for creation and communication in theatre. Theory and practice in the integration of sound into theatrical productions. Instruction in the selection, recording, editing, and execution of sound.

This course contains the development of acting skills and explores several non-realistic acting styles through the performance of prepared scenes and culminating in a final public performance. On-site exploration and application of progressive audition techniques for students hoping to advance to higher levels of education and performance goals. Students will prepare audition material and learn about the process of auditioning at the more advanced levels of theatre and the education system. The course will culminate with a final public performance.
