Located two blocks from the UCLA campus and six miles from SMC, the Co-op offers an affordable housing alternative for students. The Co-op has been serving the UCLA community since 1936. It is an apolitical, non-profit student housing organization owned and operated by the students that live there. Check the web site for current room and board rates. All rooms are furnished and utilities are included. Nineteen meals are provided per week. Each member must contribute four hours of chores per week. The Co-op has single, double, and triple rooms, and allows residents to remain in them during UCLA academic breaks at no additional cost. Allocation of rooms is decided on a seniority basis and you are therefore unlikely to get a single room during your first year. The Co-op has study lounges, laundry facilities, a piano room, a ping pong table, a foosball table, a pool table, a computer room, and an exercise room.
