UC Berkeley Transfer to Excellence Research Experiences for Undergraduates (TTE REU)
Gain 9 weeks of hands-on research experience guided by faculty and graduate student
mentors during the summer months; attend professional development and technical seminars;

Participant selected to participate will receive a $3,600 stipend, housing, meals,
a travel allowance up to $300, and UC Berkeley course credit
U.S. Citizen, national or permanent resident
Minimum GPA of 3.25 in science, engineering, and math courses
Enrolled at a California community college
Completed 2 calculus courses by the start of the program term
Completed 3 science or engineering courses, one of which has a lab component by the
start of the program term
Will be returning to California community college after completing the summer program
and later applying to transfer to a baccalaureate program in science or engineering
Two letters of recommendations with at least one from a current faculty in science
or engineering. References will receive instructions on how to complete an online
reference questionnaire on your behalf after you have submitted your application;
therefore, early submission is strongly encouraged.
Unofficial transcripts from every institution attended to apply and official transcripts,
if selected
Sample work (max 5 pages) of a test, homework, lab, or other project that demonstrates
your best work in the area you would like to conduct research. If sample work is
graded, please be sure it is included. If sample work you submit is more than 5 pages,
we will cut off anything past five pages while compiling the applications
No prior research experience is required
Applications are available in October and are due in late January/early February,
