Cedars-Sinai Biomedical Pipeline Initiative

The Biomedical Education Pipeline Initiative (BEPI) is a paid research internship that provides undergraduate students from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds with an opportunity to develop basic research skills as they consider postgraduate education and a career in healthcare. The summer BEPI research internship lasts eight to 10 weeks and is designed to broaden the participant's exposure to hands-on research at an academic medical center. Mentored by Cedars-Sinai faculty, research interns are exposed to a diverse spectrum of leading-edge technology in multiple disciplines and projects related to basic, translational or clinical research.

Requirements

Must be able to work 30 to 40 hours per week
Diverse candidates from underrepresented background
Open to International students studying on an F-1 visa who qualifies for CPT or OPT
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
Pursuing a degree at a U.S. college or institution and eligible to work in the U.S
Completed at least one year of biology or chemistry course
Interest in pursuing graduate school, medical school or both
Commit to the entire duration of the program (8 weeks, 30-40 hours per week). Start dates align with orientation on June 9, 2020.
Have reliable transportation to commute to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center
Once accepted as an intern, participants must pass a background check, go through a in-person Health Screening with Cedars-Sinai Employee Health Services, provide proof of I-9 and Tax Documentation and complete new hire paperwork

Applicants are encouraged to apply early. The internship selection process can take up to two months. Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible and no later than six weeks before the desired start date
