SMC Emotional Support for Students
We are writing to remind you of the many support resources available to you as we navigate a challenging time for our campus community. We understand the impact may be different for all of us, and prioritizing your wellbeing is most important. We encourage you to seek out the services that are here for you:
- In-Person Support at the Center for Media and Design (CMD) Campus: Drop-in therapeutic services will be available on the CMD campus on Monday, October 21, 2024 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., in CMD 240.
- Support Animals: Therapeutic mini horses will be available to help offer comfort and support on Tuesday, October 22 and Wednesday, October 23 from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Quad on the Main Campus.
- Department of Mental Health (DMH): DMH representatives will be on the Main Campus throughout this week to provide mental health outreach and support.
-
Additional Support Spaces: Several special programs across campus are organizing spaces for students to gather and receive support. Please keep an eye on your emails for updates on these events and additional resources.
If you are taking courses online, are attending at an SMC satellite campus location, or not able to attend any of the sessions, please connect to the resources always made available to our students:
- Center for Wellness and Wellbeing (CWW): Virtual and in-person counseling sessions are available. Please visit the CWW website to schedule an appointment at your convenience.
-
SMC 24/7 Emotional Support Line: Our dedicated emotional support line remains continuously available to you 24/7. Call 800-691-6003 for immediate assistance.
Please know that you are not alone during this difficult time. We encourage you to reach out and take advantage of these resources as you feel necessary. Together, we will find strength in community and care for one another as we work through this shared grief.
In community,
Your SMC Family
