Center for Media & Design Campus Shooting: Update

Santa Monica, CA—On Monday evening, just before 10 p.m., a Santa Monica College employee was shot at the Center for Media and Design, a Santa Monica College satellite campus on Stewart Street in the City of Santa Monica. The individual was transported to a local area hospital in critical condition and the suspect remains at large. This was a workplace violence incident, not a random act.

The Santa Monica Police Department is leading the criminal investigation, with assistance from the Santa Monica College Police Department and Santa Monica College. The College is fully cooperating with authorities, and all Santa Monica College campuses will be closed on Tuesday to prioritize the safety and well-being of our community.
