SMC Open October 29

SANTA MONICA, CA—Santa Monica College (SMC) will resume classes and campus operations today, Tuesday, October 29. Outdoor athletic activities are canceled and other outdoor activities are restricted.

SMC is not in the evacuation area of the Getty Fire, the roads are open, and there is no threat of wind until late tonight. We understand that there is a light scent of smoke in some neighborhoods and that may linger for a while due to the Getty Fire, still not fully contained. We will be evaluating the conditions throughout the day and into the evening and will keep you informed.
