SMC Community Teach-In Fall 2023

Environmental Risk, Refuge & Resilience

Sponsored by the Global Citizenship Committee

Thursday, November 2, 2023

Apply by Wednesday, October 25 at noon

As a campus, students, faculty and staff are coming together for a Teach-In.

What's a Teach-In?

It is an educational, interactive forum where people come together to focus on and discuss a topic.

What's the Teach-In topic?

It is about Environmental Risk, Refuge & Resilience.

Fires in Maui, HI, hurricanes in Southern California, downpours in Nevada... we are seeing more and more extreme and unprecedented weather patterns. This year, the Teach-In will be dedicated to discussing the risks associated with these environmental changes, the refuge necessary to withstand their consequences and the resilience required of humanity to act in favor of Mother Nature.

We invite you to participate in the Teach-In by tapping into your personal, academic and/or professional knowledge and presenting on an issue relating to the theme of Environmental Risk, Refuge & Resilience.

What's the purpose of a Teach-In?

A Teach-In is meant to be practical, participatory, empowering, and action-oriented. In 1965, the first Teach-In was held at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. Its focus was on the U.S. government's involvement in Vietnam.

When is the Teach-In?

Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 11:15am - 1:45pm on the Main Campus of SMC.
