Be active! Ask questions, reach out to new people, and check out our resources. Don’t be afraid to reach out to someone. People are waiting for you to connect with them. Everyone in our community is here to support you.

Not everything has to be a request for a job or an internship. Ask some genuine open ended "what" and "how" questions. For example, "What are you passionate about in your career?" Let your curiosity guide you!

And don't worry, we'll help you craft a professional message.

Let the mentor know how you want to communicate (phone, email, in person, etc.) and how often. Set a regular meeting/check-in time to ensure you stay in touch. Think about what you'd like to share about yourself.

Give them a few days and try sending a follow-up message. If you're still having issues, feel free to reach out.

Alumni become mentors for a variety of reasons. It feels great to pay it forward and help other members of the community unlock their potential. You also can learn from your mentee (or even find the next hire for your team). Lastly, you are sure to build coaching and leadership skills along the way.

First, complete your profile. You can use LinkedIn to automatically fill in some of your  information. Set your availability preferences to indicate how much time you can commit and how many mentees you can support at one time.

If you get a request we hope you'll accept it, but you do have the option to decline a student if you simply don't have time or think it's the wrong fit. We recommend you aim to connect with your mentee once every couple weeks, but ultimately you decide what works best for you and your mentee.

Share your experiences and career journey with your mentees. Help your mentees define their own goals and support them as they work toward those goals. Be a resource to your mentees as they develop their career interests and face new challenges. Stay committed to the mentoring connection and make an effort to communicate regularly with your mentees (we tell them the same thing!).

Be sure to check your spam folder for any potential lost messages. If this problem continues to persist, message us by clicking the Help button at the bottom left and we’ll help resolve the issue.

It can sometimes take a while for a potential mentee to discover you or for you to get matched depending on the size of the program, so please be patient!

Click the red Report User button in your inbox in the message thread with the person in question.
