Dear Emeritus Community,
Welcome to fall 2023!
We are thrilled to announce that the World Health Organization has recently declared the COVID-19 pandemic over! While we will continue to offer fully online and hybrid options, we are excited to welcome more students back to campus. As we transition into the new semester, we look forward to providing a vibrant, safe, and engaging learning environment for all.
We are also pleased to introduce the Living Histories Project, made possible by Mitzi Blahd, a dedicated supporter of SMC. This project a.m. to capture the rich oral history and legacy of the Emeritus community through a series of short documentary stories featuring SMC Emeritus students. By preserving and sharing these stories, we hope to honor the invaluable contributions of our Emeritus members.
As you explore our fall 2023 schedule, you will notice that a significant portion of our classes will be offered in person. We are excited to have a variety of engaging courses available on campus, allowing for a dynamic and interactive learning experience. Please note that class locations are subject to change based on evolving circumstances.
We are excited to foster a thriving learning community this fall and provide a supportive environment where students can thrive academically and personally. We encourage you to take advantage of the resources and opportunities available at SMC to make the most of your educational journey.
On behalf of the SMC Emeritus program, I extend a warm welcome to all students joining us this fall. We are committed to your success and look forward to supporting you throughout your educational endeavors.
Best regards,
Guadalupe Salgado Associate Dean (Interim) of SMC Emeritus
