Liberal Arts

 

 

Liberal Arts provides a broad education that can be used in many different careers programs of study. Liberal arts studies include English, Communication, Arts and Humanities, Science, Social Science, and Physical Education. Elementary school teachers often major in liberal arts. Some additional career options to consider existing in advertising, business, health administration, human resources management, politics, education, government, computers, writing, and editing. Transfer Preparation

Many colleges and universities offer baccalaureate degrees in this field. Students planning to transfer to a four-year college or university need to know which courses completed at Santa Monica College will be accepted at the specific college/university. Please consult a Counselor. SMC has transfer articulation agreements with the many UC and CSU campuses, as well as many private and out-of-state institutions.

18 units + General Education Requirements

A program that focuses on the combined study of the social and behavioral sciences as distinguished from the arts and humanities, with an emphasis on economics, history, political science, psychology, sociology, and anthropology. This major provides a broad education that can be used in a variety of careers including teaching.
