Bonjour! The beautiful city of Paris, known for its stunning neo-classical architecture, and its historical center has remained largely unchanged since the 1860s. Join professor Heather Bennet, to explore The Palace of Versailles, a significant site of French monarchial authority. Immerse in the rich history and art that fills the city at The Louvre and the Basilica of the Sacre Coeur and Pére Lachaise Cemetery. You will visit many statues and learn about imperialism, immigration, migration and diversity while you explore the different neighborhoods and museums.
*Cost: $2,900 per person, does not include flight to-from Paris, class fees for Global Studies 35, lunch and dinner most days. Breakfast is included. Please share with your friends and family!

Global Studies 35- Field Studies Abroad-Paris- 1 unit
On this field study, students will discover the beautiful city of Paris. Students will learn about the art history and cultural traditions and explore locations of unique interest.
Faculty Biography
Professor Heather Bennett
Professor Bennett is tenured faculty in the history department where she teaches the historys of Western civilizations and modern Europe. As a former nursing student at SMC, she enrolled in an IGETC mandated GE course in history and switched majors shortly thereafter. Professor Bennett graduated from U.C. Berkeley in 2005, becoming the first in her family to complete college. She graduated with a Ph.D. in history in 2014 and taught at Cal Poly Pomona before accepting a full-time position at SMC. Professor Bennett is passionate about European history and loves to teach and learn about revolutionary political behavior and national memory construction. During the trip she will talk to you about these interests, and she is excited to hear about yours! Professor Bennett loves to travel and has visited nine European countries, many of them (like France) multiple times! Expect to have fun, immersive, and super interesting trip as you go along with Professor Bennett to one of her favorite places on the planet!
Professor Kristin Mihaylovich
Professor Mihaylovich has been teaching art history at SMC since 2001. She received her B.A. at the University of Maryland and her M.A. from the University of California, Riverside with an emphasis on modern and contemporary European and American art. Professor Mihaylovich began her career working in curatorial positions at museums, including the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., the Museum für Moderne Kunst in Frankfurt, Germany, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. She also recently presented her third public lectures series at the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana. Professor Mihaylovich has lived and traveled extensively in Europe and is excited to be back in Paris with you this summer!

This program is on a fist come, first served basis. There are 24 spots available. Once you complete your application, you secure your spot by submitting full payment. Your final acceptance into the program will be based on your ability to provide proof of your airline ticket by the deadline.

Eligibility Requirements
- Be a current SMC student and take the offered courses. If you are not currently an SMC student, you may apply online
- All participants must be 18 years old by March 17, 2025.
- Have a valid passport by April 17, 2025.
- U.S citizens do not need a visa to travel to Paris but may need ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) starting 2025. Once the application opens, the European Union says all necessary forms can be filled out via web portal or mobil phone application and you'll have to pay a fee of 7 euros (about $8 USD). If you are a permanent resident or SMC F-1 visa student, please contact the Consulate of France to see if you need a visa.
- Pay all program fees and tuition by the deadline. If you are a financial aid recipient, check with the Financial Aid office about using financial aid to your tuition and fees.
