About the High Tech Training Center
Consistent with our Santa Monica College (SMC) technology mission: "to promote universal
access to information technology and utilize state of the art technology to achieve
its goals," the High Tech Training Center's primary mission is to ensure that SMC
students with disabilities, access the most effective technology available for achieving
their academic and vocational goals.

We help students learn the assistive technologies (e.g., screen reading, magnification, voice recognition) they need to access computers.

We also teach students how they can use technology to compensate for education limitations resulting from their disabilities (e.g., viewing and listening to text books on the computer).

In addition to our direct work with students, we serve as a campus resource on all issues related to universal technology access and technology ergonomics.
