Learning Disabilities Assessment at Santa Monica College
In order to receive support services, a student must provide specified documentation of a learning disability or be evaluated to determine eligibility for the program.
An 8-week assessment classi s offered twice during a semester (Fall and Spring) and once during a session (Winter and Summer). The assessment process provides an opportunity for students to discover their cognitive and academic strengths and weaknesses in addition to determining eligibility for services. The Learning Disabilities Specialist will interpret the test results and make individual recommendations on how to improve learning and study strategies.
Test results are compared to guidelines provided by the State of California, in accordance with federal mandates, to determine whether a student qualifies for on-going support services as a student with a learning disability.
