Campus-Wide Assistive Technologies

 

High Tech Training Center (HTTC)

The central location for assistive technology at Santa Monica College is the High Tech Training Center, the computer lab that supports students with disabilities taking academic courses. The list below includes the types of assistive technologies available with examples in each category. The HTTC Lab also has motorized adjustable tables and 3-way adjustable chairs.

Voice Recognition: Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Dragon Dictate for Mac
Screenreading Software: JAWS, Window Eyes
Low Vision software: ZoomText, Magic
Text-to-Speech software: Kurzweil 3000, TextHelp ReadWrite Gold
Computer input devices: Trackballs, Large display keyboards
Devices for Hearing Impaired students: FM Transmitters, Dual display keyboards
Devices for Visually Impaired students: Large monitors, Video magnifiers
Scanners: High Speed document scanner and numerous flatbed scanners

In addition to the HTTC, assistive technologies and adjustable furniture are available in various other locations. This information is listed below by lab. Please contact the High Tech Training Center as soon as possible if you need to have assistive technology installed in a campus lab.
