Mandatory Orientation for Students With Guaranteed, 100% Remote, Internships.

On-site and hybrid internships are not approved at this time, due to the COVID19 pandemic.

This is a required meeting for students at the beginning of the internship, before enrolling in the internship class. Students who have attended an Orientation in a previous semester need not attend again.

Continuing SMC student interns may submit a draft copy of your new or expanded learning objectives for review and approval one week prior to the beginning of each semester. Click the Rough Draft of Learning Objectives link on the menu to the left and complete the form.

At the orientation, new student interns will receive all the pertinent information regarding internship responsibilities, course assignments, how to make the most of their internship, and other details about the program. There are no weekly class meetings for the internship class. The work hours performed remotely with your internship employer, is in lieu of class time.

Note: The orientations are not for students who are still searching for an internship. Students who are looking for internship opportunities are invited to contact the Career Center for internship listings. You may also call and schedule an appointment with the internship coordinator at 310-434-4337.
