Getting Ready for Your Interview

Ask the Employer Interview Questions

At the end of an interview, employers will typically ask if you have any questions? Questions asked should be about the position or the organization. Do not pass up on this opportunity to gain more information about the company, to show your interest in a position and the company or to help you decide if a job is the right fit for you. Sample questions you might ask include:

  • What type of person would you like to see in this role/position?
  • What do you like best about working for this department/organization?
  • What do you find most challenging about working for this department/organization?
  • Can you describe a typical workday in the department?
  • What would I be expected to accomplish in the first couple of months on the job? In the first year?
  • What methods of communication does your team use?
  • What do employees seem to like best and least about the company?
  • How large is the department where the opening exists?
  • What are the characteristics of someone who would succeed in this role?
  • What are some of the challenges you've seen people in this role or on this team encounter?
  • How is performance measured?
  • What changes or innovations in the industry are you most excited about?
  • How would you describe the office environment?
