Build a Resume: Check out the guides to help you start building your resume now. Keep track of your class projects that you want to highlight on your resume.
* Arts, Media and Entertainment students: Internships and jobs in this area require
a portfolio. A portfolio is simply a collection of the work you are creating for your
classes (and probably making in your free time). Saving your class projects on the
cloud (don't wait for "the good ones" save them all!)! Check out the portfolio building guides!
* STEM students may consider looking for "Research Experiences for Undergrads" (REUs)
in year one.
-
Network: Assuming you have a resume (and portfolio for Arts, Media and Entertainment Majors), fall is a great time to build a LinkedIn profile and think about reaching out to employers. Meet with Career Services to discuss networking strategies.
-
Apply for Internships: Internships are a great way to network your way into a fulltime job. Fall is when most employers post their summer internships . *Internships are for students to practice the skills they learn in their classes - they are not a substitute for classes. More information on how to get class credit for an internship.
