The Library has licensed full text articles from thousands of scholarly journals and popular magazines that you can link to your online class syllabi and reading lists.
You do not need to obtain copyright permission to link directly to articles in these databases, this right has been negotiated for you by the Library. And it's free to both you and your students.
The URL displayed in a web browser’s address bar after a search is done is not necessarily durable (i.e. bookmarkable), because it may incorporate passwords or session-variables which expire once the browser is closed. By using the following instructions you will be able to create durable links to the content available in our databases which will be accessible on campus or off campus.
You can link to articles in most of the databases the Library subscribes to. Detailed instructions are given below. If you encounter any problems or would otherwise like assistance with linking to library resources, please contact Evelyn Chantani, Librarian, Santa Monica College Library, 310-434-4689, chantani_evelyn@smc.edu.

O'Reilly Books database
In O'Reilly Books first find the book, video or other content you want to link to.
Copy the URL in the address bar. Paste it in a text editor so you can edit it.
It may look like this:
https://learning-oreilly-com.libdb.smc.edu/library/view/learning-modern-linux/9781098108939/
For access from off campus we want the URL to begin with:
https://www.oreilly.com
so from the URL for the book we copy paste the part after the domain name, adding
it to the end:
/library/view/learning-modern-linux/9781098108939/
Giving us this:
https://www.oreilly.com/library/view/learning-modern-linux/9781098108939/
and then to the end of that we want to add paramters that allow remote access:
/?ar&orpq&email=^u
making the complete url for access:
https://www.oreilly.com/library/view/learning-modern-linux/9781098108939/?ar&orpq&email=^u
