Extended Opportunity Program & Services (EOPS) at Santa Monica College is a program that supports the enrollment, retention, graduation
and transfer of students who are challenged by economic and educational disadvantages.
As a comprehensive state-funded program, EOPS is driven by a philosophy of providing
services that are “over, above and in addition to” services available to all SMC students.
To increase the access, retention and goal completion of participants, EOPS provides
the following services:
Academic, career, personal and transfer counseling
Priority registration
Supplemental textbook assistance
Educational, transfer and career development workshops
One-on-one tutoring
Educational and cultural activities
College field trips
Application fee waivers to four-year institutions
And much more!
Other support programs available include Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education
(CARE), CalWORKs, Guardian Scholars and DREAM Program. Information on these programs
can be found at the links on the left.
The EOPS/CARE Office is currently assisting students remotely, while SMC campuses
are closed for in-person services due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We appreciate your
patience and understanding during these difficult times.
