Being a first generation student, I was told that attending a 4-year university would be a great honor for my family. They did not know the struggles I was facing, and I can honestly say that attending SMC has been one of the BEST decision of my life.
In 2017, when I attended SMC, I knew it was a second opportunity given to me. It allowed me to meet amazing counselors in the SMC Adelante Latino Center, Scholars and EOPS programs.
I got into all the schools I applied to and I couldn’t be happier with what the outcome was. The clubs and program I participated in shaped me into the person I am now.
SMC provides a lot of resources and opportunities. During my time at SMC, I had a part-time job and was a full-time student. I was involved in programs and clubs, such as the Sister to Sister mentor program, SMC Phi Theta Kappa, and SMC Cheer Club.
