Transfer to Dominguez Hills | Film & Television Production
I was not ready or focused enough to attend college after high school—I’ve had plenty of life experience and success as an actress, and a massage therapist—but when I was ready to continue my education, SMC seemed like a nice environment for me to transition back into life as a student.
SMC provided me with a safe environment to explore and discover what educational path was best for me. I was able to utilize resources and programs through the Career Center, Black Collegians, DSPS, the Tutor Lab, and the Transfer Center. Through lots of determination and support, I was able to gain admission to LMU and CSUDH.
I originally began SMC as a General Science major, but it did not seem to be a good fit for me. Through the encouragement of Black Collegians, I enrolled in a career course. All the assessments revealed that advertising was an avenue I should explore. So, I attended an informational session for the Promo Pathway Program and found my place in Creative Advertising Production.
To current SMC students, “Get involved in a club to socialize with other students. And please take advantage of the many resources and programs SMC has to offer to ensure your success.”
