As a first-gen, I entered SMC with enthusiasm. I vaguely had a concept of what I wanted to do academically after high school. I was seeking to find myself and my passions. SMC helped me find answers.
SMC offered me a myriad of opportunities that helped me grow as a scholar and individual! It started with Scholars and EOPS. But above all, I met lifelong friends and leaders in Phi Theta Kappa and PA
The positive and productive environment brought by the diverse student population is what motivated me to always stay on track. Seeing my SMC friends transfer and succeed gave me that extra push!
Your college doesn’t define you. Your hard work and dedication does. That’s what brought me to SMC — and now to UCLA! I am a proud Corsair and Bruin!
