Remote Instruction and Services from October 16 to October 20, 2024

Dear SMC Students,  

In light of the tragic events on October 14, Santa Monica College will transition to remote instruction and support services from Wednesday, October 16, through Sunday, October 20, 2024. This decision has been made to prioritize the safety and well-being of our community.  

During this time, please take note of the following changes: 

• All classes and office hours will be held online 
• We understand that the transition to remote learning can be challenging, and faculty have been asked to offer flexibility to accommodate your individual circumstances

• Please check your SMC email and Canvas for the latest communication from your instructors

• All student support services, including tutoring, counseling, and library resources, will be available remotely
• Information on how to set up online service appointments are available on the SMC website

• All in-person activities must be pivoted on-line or cancelled for the remainder of this week

• We recognize that this is a difficult time for everyone.  Crisis counseling and emotional support are available:
• 24/7 Emotional Support Hotline exclusively for SMC students by calling 800-691-6003, or emailing CWW@smc.edu for individual zoom counseling appointments

• Additional support resources for students will be communicated via your SMC email soon.
