Santa Monica College Presents 2024 Fall Jazz Series
Popular Concerts Start Sept. 20
SANTA MONICA, CA — The Santa Monica College Music Department unveils the 2024 Fall Jazz Series, featuring saxophonist Danny Janklow, bassist Trevor Ware, and percussionist Dave Tull. All concerts in the popular series are held at 7 p.m. in the Music Hall at the SMC Performing Arts Center, 1310 11th Street (at Santa Monica Boulevard), Santa Monica.
The SMC Fall 2024 Jazz Series lineup is:
- Friday, Sept. 20: Danny Janklow, Saxophone. Los Angeles native Danny Janklow is quickly gaining international recognition for his soulful and innovative alto saxophone voice. His heartfelt, passionate, and highly energetic music has reached and inspired thousands of listeners from Japan to Holland to Mexico. His live performances, often described as “emotionally charged” and “vibrant celebrations,” leave his listeners always wanting more.
- Friday, Oct. 18: Trevor Ware, Bass. Trevor Ware is well-recognized as one of the most supportive jazz bassists in Los Angeles. His style — reminiscent of Paul Chambers, Sam Jones, and Charles Mingus — focuses not only on producing a supportive bass tone with impeccable intonation, but also features long, creative, well-developed bass lines. One of the most in-demand bassists in Los Angeles, Ware is regularly featured with many bands, but most often forms strong bonds with drummers. Developing his craft at The World Stage Performance Gallery, Ware had the opportunity to hone the craft of swing under the tutelage of master drummer Billy Higgins.
- Friday, Nov. 8: Dave Tull, Drum Set. For 30 years, Dave Tull — who was drummer for the August 2016 iconic Barbra Streisand US Tours — has been known as a world-class jazz and big band drummer. For the last 10 years,
he has built a reputation as a great jazz singer, songwriter, and bandleader.
