Santa Monica College Presents 2023 Fall Jazz Series

Popular Concerts Start September 22

SANTA MONICA, CA — The Santa Monica College Music Department is pleased to present the 2023 Fall Jazz Series, featuring saxophonist Eric Person, pianist Jon Mayer, and bassist Kevin “Brandino” Brandon.

All concerts in the popular series are held at 7 p.m. in the Music Hall at the SMC Performing Arts Center, 1310 11th Street (at Santa Monica Boulevard), Santa Monica.

The SMC Fall 2023 Jazz Series lineup is:

• Friday, September 22: Eric Person, Saxophone — Critically acclaimed saxophonist from New York Eric Person — known for his distinctive alto and soprano sound and his skills as an arranger and composer — makes a rare Los Angeles-area appearance at Santa Monica College.
• Friday, October 27: Jon Mayer, Piano — Live music source InsideJazz.com describes Jon Mayer as “an emotive, playful, and superbly inventive bebop-based pianist who always delivers ear-pleasing improvisations.”

•  Friday, November 17: Kevin Brandon, Bass — Studio bass player Kevin Brandon, better known as “Brandino,” has toured with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and recorded with hit artists such as Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Mary J. Blige, and Beyoncé.

Tickets for each concert are $10 (plus a modest service charge). Advance tickets may be purchased online at smc.edu/tickets or by calling 310-434-3005 (Monday-Friday; limited hours). Tickets may also be purchased at the SMC Events Box Office on the main SMC Campus (1900 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica) up to 1 hour before the performance start time. Seating is on a first-arrival basis.
