Professor Eric Minzenberg, PhD is a cultural anthropologist. He has served as Chair of the Earth Science Department at Santa Monica College since 2016. His background includes serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the western tropical forests of Ecuador (1995-1997), interning with UNICEF in Turkey (May-August 2001), and completing his dissertation research in the Brazilian Amazon. He has led Study Abroad programs to Belize, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala and Mexico. He speaks Portuguese and Spanish. At Santa Monica College he teaches Anthropology 2 (Cultural Anthropology), Anthropology 14 (Sex, Gender and Culture), Anthropology 19 (The Culture of Food) and Anthropology 21 (Peoples and Power in Latin America).
