Dominique was born and raised in Nice, France.  After receiving her Licence de Lettres Classiques (B.A. in French literature, Greek and Latin), she moved to Santa Monica, where she has lived for most of her life, except for an interval of 5 years in Washington State, where she taught at Central Washington University.

Dominique received an M.A. and a Ph.D. in French literature from the University of California in Los Angeles, with a specialization in the 20th century; her doctoral dissertation was a study of Marcel Proust's aesthetics.

After starting—and discovering her love of—teaching at UCLA, she has taught French language and literature for many years at SMC and LMU.

Her main interests are literature and cinema. She loves Santa Monica, driving along the ocean, and . . . cats.
