Professor Frand’s path to teaching Exercising the Brain was the culmination of over 40 years of teaching experience. In 1984, she began her career with adult education teaching Lipreading and Oral Communication Skills to deaf and hard of hearing adults at Los Angeles Adult Schools.
In 1999, Professor Frand was asked to create a new course to address memory concerns in adults. Upon approval by the Los Angeles Board of Education, the class was first offered in 2000. In subsequent years, she taught the class at multiple adult education locations.
In 2006, Professor Frand was asked to offer the Exercising the Brain class at Emeritus College. By popular demand, she now teaches three sections of this challenging class, exclusively at Emeritus College.
