If you are an interested in becoming a healthcare provider, SMC now offers tuition free noncredit Certified Nurse Assistant and Home Health Aide Pre-Certification programs. Get certified in less than 2 months!
Certified Nurse Assistant Pre-Certification (180 hours): This program will teach you the knowledge, skills and abilities that are essential to work as an entry-level nurse assistant caring for patients in hospitals, assisted living and long-term care settings. After completion you will be eligible to take the California Nurse Assistant Competency exam to become a Certified Nurse Assistant.
Home Health Aide Pre-Certification (54 hours): This program prepares you for a career as an entry-level home health aide administering in-home health and hospice care and services. This program focuses on essential aspects of patient care, such as the medical and social needs of people being served in a non-clinical setting.

Admission Requirements
Our newly developed programs are designed to offer low-cost training programs to get you quickly into the field. There are no tuition fees, and most program supplies are loaned out to program participants. Because you will be taking classes in a clinical setting you will be required to pay for a background check, drug screening and have an current CPR certification. Anticipated out of pocket expenses range from $350-$450.
The following paperwork is due into the Health Sciences office by May 3, 2024 for the Summer 2024 cohort:
- Application
- Clear Background Check (Done through Castlebranch)
- Negative Drug Screening (Done through Castlebranch)
- TB Test (must be completed within 3 months of program start)
- American Heart Association CPR/BLS certification
- Covid 19 vaccination
