The Welcome Center at Santa Monica College is a collaborative effort that is supported by both academic and student affairs. The Center maintains a “student first” philosophy to assist first-time SMC students, who have less than 30 college credits/units, as they transition to college. The Center offers a wide array of student services designed to accommodate their needs in a “One-Stop Center” that promotes student success and retention in a nurturing and welcoming environment. The Welcome Center staff will continue to support new students until they have successfully transitioned to other academic and student support services.
The Welcome Center is located in the Cayton Center/Cafeteria on the first floor in room 110. We are directly across from the Science Building and adjacent to the Health office. Look for the signs that lead to the Welcome Center.

During peak enrollment periods, expect longer wait times to see a counselor. The counseling list closes periodically based on the number of students wanting to see a counselor. During peak times, we recommend students sign up to see a counselor before noon.
Sign up for a New Student Group Session!
For students who have less than one semester/quarter of college experience and have never attended Santa Monica College before, they can register for a New Student Group Session with the Welcome Center. Sign-ups for a session can be done either through Corsair Connect or directly with Welcome Center Staff. Here's how:
Step1: Open up SMC.edu and login to Corsair Connect.
Step 2: In the top right corner of the Home page, click on the Enrollment Tab.
Step 3: Next, click on the Counseling Services link on the left hand side.
Step 4: At the bottom of the list of counseling offices, click on Welcome Center.
Step 5: Review the list of available sessions, and click the Sign Up link next to the preferred session.Step 6: Once a session has been selected, please check -in for that session at the Welcome Center, 10 minutes before the session begins. Don’t forget to bring a form of identification.
