Your Success Matters!

6 Easy Steps to Enrollment

1. Apply

Apply online at You will receive your SMC ID# immediately and can move on to Step 2.

Apply for financial aid at and create an ID#. Application opens October 1. SMC school code is 001286.

  • Apply for a Board of Governors (BOG) Fee Waiver at

  • AB 540 students: Talk with counselor about your financial aid options and DREAM Act Application

  • Remember to apply for financial aid EVERY school year!

2. Pre2Test

Prepare for your assessment tests in English or ESL and mathematics at The more you prepare, the higher you may place, which means less classes you may need to take.

3. Assessment

Take the tests in person at Liberal Arts Room 109. Check hours at Bring a photo ID.

Out-of-state students can request to test remotely at, select "remote."

4. Orientation

Complete your online orientation and educational plan (MyEdPlan) in the student portal Corsair Connect at

    4. Complete the “Monica” portion of orientation, then create a 1-semester educational plan at

  • Features of Corsair Connect

    • Add/drop classes

    • Pay student fees

    • Check financial aid

    • Complete the online orientation

    • Check your SMC email account

    • Create your student educational plan

5. Counseling and MyEdPlan

Meet with your SMC outreach counselor to discuss your educational plan.

6. Enroll

Find out what classes you want to take at

  • Get guidance from a counselor on courses that would be recommended for your skill level & goals

  • Check if course has a pre-requisite, which is a course you must have completed before taking a class

  • Remember: You are considered a full-time student when you take 12 units

Enroll on Corsair Connect at

  • Go to Enrollment to “Add a Class” or “Search for Classes”. Enter the 4-digit section number for the class.

  • Remember to pay your fees on Corsair Connect at or in person at the Bursar’s office on campus by the deadline or you will be dropped from your classes!

Get Ready for School

  • Buy your books early. Visit

  • Get your Student ID card at the Bursar’s Office once your fees are paid.
