​Mission Statement

The mission of Student Judicial Affairs is to work collaboratively with the campus community to uphold the Rules for Student Conduct Code, the Code of Academic Conduct and the Honor Code in order to promote a safe learning environment for students, staff, and faculty.


  • Provide counseling, conflict resolution, and mediation to students who have been referred by faculty, staff, fellow students, College Police and the Crisis Prevention Team;

  • Provide workshops and presentations for a broad segment of the campus (Crisis Prevention Team, Flex Day activities, new Faculty Orientations);

  • Work closely with College Police, Psychological Services, Student Life, DSPS and Department Chairs; 

  • ​Provide outreach and education to students through the Honor Council.

Student Unit Outcomes

As a result of interacting with a Student Judicial Affairs conduct officer, students will:

  • Demonstrate an understanding, of, and adherence to the SMC Rules of Student Conduct, Code of Academic Conduct, and Honor Code. [ILO: 1, 4]

  • Have a greater understanding of the adjudication process and their rights to due process. [ILO: 2]

  • Reflect upon the actions and decisions leading to their conduct violation, will accept responsibility for their actions, and articulate the impact their behavior had on their own life and the college community. [ILO:  1, 3, 4]
