Mission of the Office of Human Resources

It is the mission of the Office of Human Resources to provide an optimal work environment for high productivity, continuous improvement and supreme customer service. Our Office also works with college staff to ensure compliance with all Federal, state, and local laws pertaining to personnel matters, including equal employment opportunity.

Most employees at SMC are represented by collective bargaining units: faculty members are represented by the Faculty Association (FA), classified staff members are represented by the California School Employees Association (CSEA), and campus police are represented by Santa Monica College Police Officers' Association.

Bullying & Violence in the Workplace or on Campus

SMC prohibits workplace and campus violence and strongly promotes civility in the workplace. SMC is committed to maintaining a safe, collegial environment in which fear, intimidation and bullying will not be tolerated.
