Student Work Hours
Federal Work Study maximum per week = 10 hours.
Students can work during the winter if they are enrolled in 3 units unless enrolled in 6 units for fall and 6 units for spring semesters. There is no FWS during the summer semester. FWS students would have to be hired under Student Help.
Student Help maximum per week = 20 hours and 30 hours for winter & summer semesters.
Students must be enrolled in 12 units or more at SMC for the fall and spring semesters to be able to work during summer or winter. A student can work in the winter or summer, if not enrolled in 12 units, as long as they are enrolled in 3 units during those semesters.
Continuing Student Employees
Continuing student employees must complete the FERPA training, the Mandated Reporter and Student Leave forms and a new Application Contract annually, to be considered for rehire in any department.

Student Employment is located within the Financial Aid Office on the main campus of Santa Monica College within the Admissions Complex behind The Coffee Spot and next to the Drescher Hall Building. Once you have found a job on campus through this website- you will then need to bring your employment paperwork to the Financial Aid Office.
