DISGRACEFUL VEILS OF AFGHANISTAN'S TALIBAN
By Dr. Adrianne Harrop
Performed by Sheraye Esfandyari and Pridhvi Sunain Zoro

'Disgraceful Veils of Afghanistan's Taliban' is a 20 minute piece showing the plight of women and education in Taliban ruled Afghanistan through dance, drama and theatre.

'Disgraceful Veils' was first presented in January 2000 when now adjunct instructor, Sheraye Esfandyari, was then a student in the Theatre Arts Department. At that time, few had heard of the Taliban. The performance was shocking and eye-opening, prompting much discussion.

Although the show went to the regional festival of the KC/ACTF, it was not selected to for presentation at the Kennedy Center. At the time, the director was told the reason being that our government was still friendly with the Afghan Taliban government and it would, therefore, be politically incorrect. This was just a mere few months before the 9/11 attack on the Twin Towers.

Please join us to see great theatre, the need for change and learn what you can do!
