Teach academic ESL courses; maintain office hours; and participate in department and college flexday activities.

Minimum qualifications:

Master’s in TESL, TESOL, applied linguistics with a TESL emphasis, linguistics with a TESL emphasis, English with a TESL emphasis, or education with a TESL emphasis or Bachelor’s in TESL, TESOL, English with a TESL certificate, linguistics with a TESL certificate, applied linguistics with a TESL certificate, or any foreign language with a TESL certificate and Master’s in linguistics, applied linguistics, English, composition, bilingual/bicultural studies, reading, speech, or any foreign language or the equivalent, or

Possession of an appropriate valid California Community College Credential authorizing service in the specified subject area(s).

Preferred qualifications include:

Experience in teaching academic ESL writing, reading, speaking and listening to both resident and international students in a community college or university; participation in professional organizations such as CATESOL and TESOL; evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the socio-economic, academic, cultural and ethnic diversity within the community college student population including students with physical and/or learning disabilities as these factors relate to differences in learning styles.
