The Communication Studies discipline was formerly titled Speech.
The Communication Studies program reflects the interests of our multi-cultural student body, offering classes in interpersonal, group, intercultural, and public communication.
Through the study of a variety of speech communication contexts, students gain confidence and experience in analyzing, creating, and executing competent communication strategies. More specifically, students learn to analyze, organize, and research significant topics through informative and persuasive public speaking platforms. They research and explore a variety of fields using a global communication perspective to examine issues in science, business, and social sciences, as well as topics in history, art and literature.
Communication skills are developed in order to enhance students’ ability to interact more effectively in multi-cultural communities - whether at home, in the business world or internationally--thus helping the student prepare for our new global society.
