Santa Monica College's Law Pathway program fosters the skills needed to excel in a legal career. The Law Pathway program is designed to help SMC's traditionally underrepresented students that are interested in a legal career in becoming competitive applicants to law school.

SMC 2+2+3 Plan

First 2 Years

Ideally, Law Pathway students will complete their general education and major prep at SMC over approximately two years, preparing to transfer (in any major). During this time, Pathway students will receive:

  • Individual Mentoring

  • Exposure to Careers in Law

  • Networking Opportunities

  • Leadership Training

  • Membership to SMC Pre-Law Society

+2 Years

Transfer to any accredited undergraduate UC/CSU/Private institution to complete a bachelor's degree in any major.

+3 Years

Application with priority admissions review at any of the six participating law schools:

  • UCLA School of Law

  • UC Berkeley School of Law

  • USC Gould School of Law

  • University of San Francisco School of Law

  • UC Davis School of Law

  • UC Irvine School of Law

  • Loyola Law School Los Angeles

  • Santa Clara Law School
