Free Program for High School Students!

Free classes are for California high school students (rising 9th to 12th graders). The program has no enrollment fees​, and you can earn credit for high school and/or college!

About the Program

Students will choose two 6-week summer courses that meet Monday to Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Center for Media and Design campus, located in the heart of Silicon Beach and accessible by Metro and Big Blue Bus. 

A variety of fun, hands-on and interactive courses are offered in topics, ranging from App Programming to Cloud Based Computing, Journalism, Photography and Screenwriting!

Benefits of the Program

Students can take advantage of computer labs, tutoring services, editing bays, and other campus features made available in the afternoon and evenings.

All courses that will be offered are UC/CSU transferable and do not have prerequisites to take the classes. Take a look at what MTSE Classes you can take.

Career Connection Friday Experiences

Every Friday during the 6-week summer session, there are free, optional, highly recommended opportunities for students to meet with and talk to professionals in local media and design career fields while also exploring their own career goals with SMC career counseling staff.

These opportunities will provide experiences at off-site locations to meet with and learn from key media and design industry professionals as well as exploring careers and pathways in Business, Computer Science, Entertainment Technology, Film, Graphic Design, Interior Architectural Design, Interaction Design (IXd), Journalism and Media Studies.
