As documented on the BBC show I Bought a Rainforest, James discovered an illegal cocaine plantation after he’d signed the deed, and the only way to save the ecosystem was with empathy for the illegal loggers. Hear his fascinating stories of working with these local characters, and get a sneak peek of his latest work in Yellowstone and with vultures in the Serengeti.

MacArthur Award-winner and Broad Stage favorite Anna Deavere Smith returns to the Westside with a compelling new project that examines one of our country’s most pressing issues. In Notes from the Field: Doing Time in Education, Ms. Smith turns her attention to “the school-to-prison pipeline” and performs striking portraits culled from interviews she conducted with more than 100 individuals across the nation, affected by the pipeline’s devastating policies—capturing the dynamics of a rapidly shifting social issue through her trademark performance technique.
