SMC Opera Theatre Presents: Gianni Schicchi and Il campanello

Janelle DeStefano and Mercedes Juan Musotto, Directors. Puccini's one-act masterpiece Gianni Schicchi and Donizetti's delightful Il campanello come together for a double-bill of Italian comic opera. Set in Florence, Gianni Schicchi tells the comic story of a money-grabbing family who relies on the cunning of Gianni Schicchi to try to change the will of a wealthy relative. Set in Naples, Il campanello is about a crafty young man who tries to disrupt the wedding night of his former girlfriend. SMC Opera Theatre presents a fully staged performance, with piano accompaniment.
