Unless noted otherwise, concerts are held in The Broad Stage or in The Edye, both located at the SMC Performing Arts Center (PAC) at Santa Monica Blvd. & 11th St., Santa Monica. Advance tickets for concerts with an admission charge may be purchased online (www.smc.edu/eventsinfo), by phone at (310) 434-3005, or in person at the SMC Theatre Arts Box Office (Theatre Arts Complex, SMC Main Campus; limited hours). A modest service charge applies. Tickets may also be purchased at the door 45 minutes before event start time. ​

Seating is strictly on a first-arrival basis.

Emeritus College Concert Band

Jascha Nemtsov: Piano Recital

International pianist and musicologist Jascha Nemtsov will perform Preludes and Fugues by Vsevolod Zaderatsky, who wrote his compositions on telegram paper while imprisoned in a Siberian Gulag. Complimentary tickets available at the SMC Music Office (PAC 211).

Treasures of Spain – Song, Dance, and Guitar

Janelle DeStefano, mezzo-soprano;

SMC Symphony Orchestra

James Martin, Director. March concert showcases various sections of the orchestra, two outstanding soloists—harpist Liesl Erman and trumpeter Theo Pappas—and works by Vaughan Williams, Debussy, Gounod, Hummel, and Franz Liszt. May concert features SMC student soloists, plus Haydn’s colorful “Oxford” Symphony #92 in G Major.

Man of La Mancha

Written by Dale Wasserman. Music by Mitch Leigh. Lyrics by Joe Darion. Winner of five Tony Awards, Man of La Mancha is a play within a play, performed by Cervantes—a Spanish Inquisition prisoner—in the role of Don Quixote, who takes us on a whimsical journey in his quest for the “Impossible Dream.” The good and innocent are celebrated in a world filled with darkness.
